Salgaocar look to pull a double on Shivajians

Salgaocar Football Club is looking to get a double on the Pune side DSK Shivajians in the upcoming Hero I-league fixture to be played at the Tilak Maidan, Vasco at 04:30 PM. After a two week international break the Hero I-League is back & the Greens have the 1st game against the Shivajians. Before the break Salgaocar had 4 games at home in a row out of which they had 2 victories, a draw & a loss. The last game they played against Shillong Lajong FC which they were able to win by a sole goal from Gilbert Oliviera. The Pune side themselves are on an undefeated streak of 4 games since the 1st leg of this clash where they were defeated by the Greens. Stunning Kolkata giants East Bengal & in the last match defeating Sporting Clube De Goa 3-1 they now head into this fixture.

Speaking to the press in the pre-match conference that was held both the head coaches have agreed to this being a crucial fixture for their sides & more so for the Greens as they continue to fight relegation. “3 points from the game are very important, If you see the table all teams are close, especially the last 6 teams, so it is very important as all the matches are gonna be close” said the Salgaocar head Coach Santosh Kashyap. Rocus Lamare one of the club’s long serving players also added “Now we have 4 matches left, we don’t have many options our only aim is to look forward & just forget about what has happened & go for those 3 points to move up & get our confidence” The Greens gaffer reiterated the importance of picking up all the points in tomorrow’s fixture as he stated “My philosophy is simple if you play to win you might end up with a draw, but if you play for a draw you will end up losing, so never think about a draw & loss is out of question”

A calmly poised DSK Shivajians Head Coach Derrick Pereira had this to say about his team’s recent exploits “We have struggled initially, not having much time to work with the players especially those who played in the ISL, while others haven’t. So bringing them together & making them fit & having to face many injuries to the players, but we have had enough time & we are doing well now & we are gelling well & I expect them to continue in the same way”. The Goan lad who plays as a defender for the Pune Side Don Fernandes also looked eager as he said “Tomorrow’s game is very important for the team & more so for me as I am a Goan & going up against a Goan side we need to win & get all the 3 points”
