Aizawl host Salgaocar in their final Home fixture

In the final home Hero I-league fixture for Aizawl FC shall play host to Salgaocar FC. The battle between the East & the West shall take place at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Mizoram on 11th April at 2:30 PM. When the Goan side hosted the Highlanders they were denied 3 points by a last minute penalty which saw the teams walk away with a point each. However the Greens are now looking for a victory against the Mizoram side as they face the battle for relegation.

 

The travelling side have had a total of 5 home games in a row out of which they have had 2 victories, 2 draws & a single loss. Salgaocar FC now has 13 points from as many games & is currently at the bottom of the table. The Greens Gaffer Santosh Kashyap had this to say during the pre-match press conference, “We will play our next match as if it is the final. That is how we have been playing every single match this season. My boys have been reciprocating pretty well till now.” Skipper & custodian Karanjit Singh also showed faith in his side as he said “We are now stable at both attacking and defending. We do not think about relegation. We do our work and are fighting for a spot.”

 

A confident home side’s head coach Jahar Das had this to say “We are confident about the match tomorrow.” He went on to further add, “We will play an attacking game but will not forget to defend either.” Albert Zohmingmawia also showed his confidence as he stated “It will not be easy to win but we plan on walking away with the three points after the match.”
